WRESSAA is a provincial association, recognized by the Canadian Kennel Club, that was founded in August 1989 by a group of breeders and Springer fanciers in order to promote the English Springer Spaniel to the public and to educate pet owners & breeders on many aspects concerning the breed. One of the primary mandates of the Club is to promote responsible pet ownership and breeding.
Besides educational seminars (grooming, eye clinics, ring stewarding, etc.) we hold several fun events throughout the year. We also hold several fund raisers in which a percentage of the proceeds is donated to charitable organizations. In 2004, WRESSAA was thrilled to host the English Springer Spaniel Club of Canada National Specialty Show & Trial & our Specialty Show & Licensed Obedience Trial in conjunction with the Alberta Kennel Club's 100th Anniversary shows. Check out the 2004 results. This was the second time that WRESSAA hosted the ESSCC National Specialty -- the first was in 2000. WRESSAA's 2006 Specialty Show was held on Saturday July 15, 2006 at the Indus Recreation Centre in conjunction with the Evelyn Kenny Kennel & Obedience Club Shows. We hosted our first two all-breed agility trials on Monday August 7, 2006 at Shouldice Park in Calgary Alberta in conjunction with the Alberta Kennel Club Summer Shows.
THE SPRINGER TIMES, the educational newsletter of WRESSAA, is published 3 times a year -- the winter issue deadline for submissions is March 15, 2007. For further information about the newsletter, please contact the editor, Anne Dorsay.
We are a highly motivated group of people, always looking for new challenges. If you have a Springer or just enjoy the breed, come on out and join us!
